About Susan Oliver...
Susan was born in 1932 (as Charlotte Gercke), making her 33 when The Cage was filmed in 1965. She was born in New York City and died of cancer in California in 1990 at the young age of 58. In 1959 she developed a fear of flying after experiencing a terrible flight from New York to Paris (the plane suddenly plunged before recovering). To overcome her fears she actually began flight classes and flying herself. In 1967 she became the second woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean (the first having been Amelia Earhart). In the 1976 TV Movie "Amelia Earhart", Susan played the role of Earhart's flight instructor, Neta Snook (Snookie). She also wrote an autobiography that was published in 1983 titled: "Odyessy, A Daring Transatlantic Journey". Susan never married.
