Spock reports that all life in the Malurian star system has been destroyed and Malur, a world with a recorded population of 4 billion, is now devoid of life, including the Federation science team that was on the planet. And a space probe called Nomad is intrigued by Uhura's singing on the Enterprise's communications system.
This is one of just a few Star Trek episodes where there were no scenes off the Enterprise. There were also no "guest beauties" to mention.
